who was it that said that even explorer has a limit of 400 folder settings before it starts "forgetting" things? I can't remember if it was in this forum or some email i received... anyway, per-folder settings is a good concept until you realise how much storage it requires and how sluggis...

i can't reproduce that. The only situation when the button is disabled is if you are in the beggining of the visited folders list. Is the toolbar button grayed? or the keyboard shortcut?

the redirector has to establish intricate and reliable communication with the $-command processor. Details like unicode pipes and stuff preclude the generalization to 3rd party cmd-replacements. So values in binConsoleRedirection only apply to cmd.exe i could have a go with 4NT (assuming i could fin...

but per-folder settings is not something viable (? )

yep!
if redirection is active then the preamb(p)le is used for "$" on its own. For non-empty $-commands the redirector (cmd.exe) will be used unless you modify binConsoleRedirection as mentioned

i am not aware of this particular command processor. What you have observed is the default x2 command redirector, which only works for the default cmd.exe. If you want to switch this feature off you'll need to tweak binConsoleRedirection as explained in alpha.txt. Just set it to 0 (zero) and all com...

thanks for the info from the debug output it would seem that within your c:\htm you have a few files which contain the illegal characters */? in their filenames. Is that so? (& how did this happen? ) anyway, you should be able to resume execution with no problems by just clicking on the Ignore b...

that's not possible, unfortunately. The same value controls the delay of both autoCD and hover expansion

see faq# 11 for a registry hack that removes the toolbar position data

as we've discussed before, the best insurance against such mishaps is to save a layout with the thumbnail on. Then you can easily restore it when things go wrong (View | Layouts menu)

you don't have to delete an existing bookmark; just "overwrite" it pretending there was an empty slot there

unfortunately, 2x cannot help you unless there is some pattern in the filenames you can exploit. What you already do is your best bet i could add a command in the future to select items by index, so you could tell 2x to "select from item 1500 to 2000", but i don't know if anybody else woul...

batch files always run under the command processor (similar to $ ). I hadn't thought of sending their output to the x2 console, but you gave me a good idea! -- i'll add this at some point

unfortunately i can't think of a way to redirect > in a way that non-console programs will work. With $ the situation is simple since all executions go through a single well known program (cmd.exe or command.com) whose behaviour can be redirected consistently. I wouldn't want to imagine what would h...
