The above link doesn't work (not so perspicacious today Gary,), so this one will get anyone interested to the same place. In my searches I did actually run across this, but found it didn't work so well with Win7 x64 (it kept saving files as extension only, and the added buttons sometimes wen...

Once again, I offer an alternative that maybe sidesteps your issue. Although I've switched from PowerDesk to xPlorer2, I still have it installed for it's Dialog Tracker utility. That adds buttons to the caption bar of MOST open/save dialogs for most recently used files and most recently used folders...

Re: Tree pane - position of active folder
I swear by WizMouse Ordinarily I'd hate "another tray-based thingie" but this little thing is quite useful (not least within x2 itself to scroll either pane regardless of active status!). Thanks for the suggestion. Any discovered conflicts in your experience? I guess I've used it for ab...

re: blog: rapidshare to the dog house
By an odd co-incidence, I read your blog minutes after getting the install instruction from a Finnish company for a flow chart generator I bought yesterday. The instructions are to: Install the demo (done, that's why I ordered the product). Then use the links provided to download the FULL version, ...

Re: Tree pane - position of active folder
I use dual horizontal folder panes and would like to tell X2 to automatically position and highlight the active folder in the center of the Tree pane. Currently if I click in the top folder pane, the active folder is highlighted in the tree pane at the bottom of the tree pane. If I click in the bo...

Possibly unrelated (but I'll throw it out there anyway), I used to have to same problem (custom folder icons reverted to default yellow) - this happened sporadically and in no particular pattern - until I tracked it down to some programmes which where instructed to access (or more correctly) scan a...

how do you change colors? see here: www.zabkat.com/blog/17Aug08-customize-drive-icons.htm perhaps a different icon altogether would be more permanent Nikos, perhaps I wasn't clear. These aren't DRIVE icons I'm adjusting. They are folder icons on drive E: where my non-programming work resides (C: is...

Losing ONE coloured folder icon
One of the PowerDesk/ExplorerPlus features I wanted in x2 was the ability to change folder icons to a different coloured version. Specifically, I wanted the data, work and download folders to stand out. I use red for download, green for data and blue for work. Using third party utilities, I was able...

Re: Just a little late, was I?
It should also be clarified that the 1.8 addition comes with caveats , mainly that you will still have to manually set up the user commands and toolbar association yourself (as in the above tutorial) - 1.8 will only add the (curiously limited) ability to drag and drop objects onto the aforementione...

Well, I tried. Guess I should have asked if it was a good idea to document my experience... No offence Gary, I'm not hijacking the thread, this is just my role around here: view things through a wide-angle lens, within reason. Doesn't always work, but I try. I applaud, not detract, your tutorial ...

On the other hand, I have to admit, this old dog likes his old tricks and drag and drop in 1.8 will be welcomed.
Appreciate the heads up.

Yes, xplorer2 DOES have a Launchbar
This was a question I had when I first came to xplorer2. I'm still nowhere near an expert in the program, but I can now safely say, xplorer2 DOES have a launchbar. I've seen responses in this forum to the question from newcomers, and frankly, those answers can be a bit defensive and/or abrasive. The...

Rather, Nikos, I was already sold. Plunked down the dollars two nights ago, including the lifetime upgrades.

Getting close to signing on
Nikos, Thanks for your reply and for the product itself. You WERE right on Powerdesk, although I've used ExplorerPlus for most of the twins' lifespans. The memory refresh issue got me to jump from ExplorerPlus to PowerDesk 7 to revisit a version I'd panned when it came out. Took less than a week fo...

Looking to replace my competing product
Hi all, I have been looking to replace my file manager of choice. It's worked for six versions from several owners over the years, but v7 is flawed and I've decided it's time to change, what with Windows 7 on the horizon and all. So, here is my list of desired features, with things that I haven't y...
