Re: happy birthday xplorer2

Nikos,

I read your BD blog post and found it very interesting and enjoyable reading.

Congratulations to you and your 'baby' on its 10th BD. Here's to beer money!

Re: deskrule build 1.0.26

Fine! Have it your way. No remembrance. Then no need to bind anything in your skin. Still it would be a shame to let all that prime Irish hide go to waste. Possibly use it as the medium on which a painting is created by a great Irish artist. Then you will be part of something memorable, but NOT the ...

Re: deskrule build 1.0.26

Yes, the "news" about the book bound in human skin has been all over the web. As you say, it was not that unusual in the past. And since human skin has been likened to pig skin (at least medically) I am sure "we" make a good book covering. Turning your writings into a book (I thi...

Re: scrap question

Awww! Do you feel neglected? Do you feel unappreciated in your own time? Does it seem like you put all this great stuff out into the universe and no one is paying attention? Welcome to my world. If it makes you feel any better this issue is common among those with high IQ's and great wit.

Re: deskrule build 1.0.26

I kind of like the idea of Soylent Green. Rather than rotting underground or sitting in an urn over the fireplace, at least we can do something to benefit others. For some, that might be the only time they actually do that. For those that ARE sentimental, they can keep a can of grandpa (or grandma) ...

Re: deskrule build 1.0.26

I am not THAT old (to have had an affair with Voltaire - or Arouet if you prefer) nor am I of the right proclivity (sexually) to be interested in doing so. Not sure what your horse reference is referring to - a physical attribute, your place in the order of the universe or your passion to be ridden ...

Re: deskrule build 1.0.26

Please watch those "elderly" comments! I have been working with (system design, software design, programming, project management, etc.) computers longer than most of you have been drawing breath. I am, officially, "elderly" - but that does not mean I am stupid and I am not comput...

Re: Stop dvd drive from auto-opening

Nikos, X2 is a piece of software. You are its author. Criticizing one does NOT imply any criticism of the other! Neither you nor X2 is perfect. Neither you nor X2 will ever be perfect - though X2 has a better shot at it then you do (because it is not human). You can change (note I did not say "...

The way the world is going, you may want to teach her Farsi as her forth language.

Re: documentation (especially regarding scripting)

Kilmatead, I am no source of knowledge nor wisdom Actions speak louder than words. And as much as you seem to distain the human race and sometimes yourself, your actions suggest a source of knowledge and wisdom that is above those of the average person. In the world of the blind, the one eyed man is...

Re: documentation (especially regarding scripting)

kilmatead, History herself answers us: "The wise one". Ecclesiastes observes... For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. Ah, that helps. It is the equivalent to the dumbed down expression: "fat, dumb and happy" which I have always inte...

Kilmatead,

OK, I will take you up on your offer. What is the purpose of unhappiness in the lives of people. And please do not say, "so we can appreciate happiness" or anything as simplistic as that.

Mass Rename

The problem with not using a feature very often is, when I need it, I do not know how to use it. I wanted to rename a bunch of files. I selected the Mass Rename feature and was immediately confused. The window did not look like the picture in the help file. I understand that the help is behind but t...
