"probably my swan song for Windows Desktop applications"
I would also be sad about a swan song, but that is an interesting qualifier! New platform(s) perhaps?

how to find all folders and files in a folder
I used Ctrl+F to find all Folders and Files in a specified folder. "Named: *.*" doesn't return the folders, because my folder names don't have periods in their names. On the other hand, "Named: *" returns the error message "The search filter must not be completely unconstrai...

Re: xplorer2 suggestion box
 I thinking something more like the Synced Tabs view in Firefox, except it would have pathnames instead of web page titles. It would be a new kind of pane or dropdown. Each tab can have a lot more space than at the top or bottom. Could be sortable or filterable. https://i.imgur.com/Oi4IBqs.jpg

Re: xplorer2 suggestion box
I'd like to see Vertical Tabs. Very useful in web browsers and text editors where multiple pages/files are open.

Re: msi files - can't move / delete / rename
Just happened again. With the Prevew pane and Details panes opened, I tried to drag an .msi file from the right pane (j:\users\public\downloads\uncategorized) to a folder in the left pane ("j:\users\public\downloads\android\carbon desktop - helium"). In the right pane the following columns...

Re: msi files - can't move / delete / rename
I'm using the latest Windows 10. I'm going through hundreds of program downloads in J:\Users\Public\Downloads\Uncategorized . The J volume is on an older hard drive that I still have in my desktop system. My C volume from which I boot to Windows is an SSD. The J volume also has an older Windows inst...

Re: msi files - can't move / delete / rename
Later on I was able to rename an MSI file in xplorer2, so it doesn't always happen. I wonder if perhaps if it has something to do with having the details pane or the viewer pane open when the MSI file is highlighted? But hiding these panes does not enable the file to be deleted / renamed / moved. An...

hard links - info about other hard links to same files?
Can xplorer2 be made to display the other hard link pathnames for files shown in a pane? In a details pane, or in a scrap container? I know I can use the Links column to display files with >1 link in a scrap container, but is it possible to sort them so that all the hard links for each file are disp...

mass rename tokens - complete list? year, month, day etc?
Does the "$-token help" list in the mass rename wizard show all the available tokens? The only date-related token I see is $D, modification date, and it seems to allow the insertion of the modification date in one format. Is it possible to enter four-digit year, two-digit month, two-digit ...

Re: deskrule won't catalog a mounted Acronis backup file
I tried mounting and cataloging two different .TIB backups of the same HDD volume. When mounted, both .TIBs had the same serial number. When I tried to catalog the second mounted .TIB, I got the message "the storage medium is already in the catalog. do you want to refresh it?" I changed th...

Re: deskrule won't catalog a mounted Acronis backup file
It works! I'll do some experimenting regarding the serial number. I imagine the serial number would be different for each volume which is backed up to a .TIB, but if I have multiple .TIBs for the same volume, the serial number might be the same for all of them?
