Re: browse compressed archives - now final!

I am the proud and happy owner of an Echo. I have had it for several months. It is a great product (especially for $99) and it keeps getting better as Amazon adds new features every week or two. It is not going to win a completion with Siri or Cortana - YET. It has been getting very good reviews fro...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean

pschroeter, sorry for high jacking your thread

Pj, thanks for the added info on SSD's. I think anyone using an SSD should have multiple good backups going back several weeks or more.

Re: browse compressed archives - now final!

Kilmatead, yes, people like thinking their rosy thoughts, it makes them happy. And much to my dismay, a whole lot of people think being happy is the purpose of life. I disagree - but do not find many people that will admit to agreeing with me. I also believe that people can have their own "purp...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean

You may have missed the "pun" (I am not sure the word applies here) though I would think sarcasm is more appropriate. I have a very difficult time conveying sarcasm via text. Either it is too concealed or too obvious. I guess it is all in the look or vocal inflection and I should just give...

Re: browse compressed archives - now final!

dmattote, we share similar backgrounds - as I, too, started working with computers that filled rooms. I did not use it (it was actually before my time) but I was able to stand INSIDE a computer. It was a vacuum tube unit that required internal access to change tubes when they failed. I also worked w...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean

Kilmatead, Some of what I said was correct - not filling an SSD to capacity. So if I, as someone looking for info on a subject (like SSD's), check several sites (and C-NET is one I would normally consider credible) and they tell me the same thing, how would I know that it is not true? How do I know ...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean

Kilmatead, you make some very good and important to know points about SSD's. Though possibly you come across a tad heavy handed. About half way through you say "to make a long story short". Then you continue on with the long story. I think if the points you made were presented as bullet po...

Re: browse compressed archives - now final!

I agree about charity. I make a few donations over the course of a year, but I do NOT want to be put in the uncomfortable position of ignoring a face to face appeal. I do research into the charities I support and insure that at least 60% of the monies taken in actually go to help those the charity p...

Re: browse compressed archives - now final!

I have been using Win 7 for a long time and would be happy to stay with it for as long as it continues to receive updates from MS. Unfortunately, about a 10 months ago some kind of bug slipped into my system. It could have been from one of those MS updates. It causes my IE 11 browser to crash. Now, ...

If we are proposing probable countries which are likely to start a nuclear war, my vote is for the middle east and countries starting with the letter "I".

It is an interesting comment on our advanced society when missing one meal is considered starving.

Re: FolderSize problem

Kilmatead, I am not sure what Nikos would say, but I definitely see you as a thorn in his side, at times. But I assume he knows that your blustering is meant in fun (mostly) and tolerates or even accepts you because, when needed, you are one of the best sources of information and help on all things ...

Re: FolderSize problem

Kilmatead, Yes, it is obvious your rant was in jest - as are portions of my posts. As a person, not unlike yourself (I imagine) who does not suffer fools gladly, I enjoy sparing with someone who can participate at a level that affords me the opportunity to learn new things and forces me to work hard...

Re: FolderSize problem

Kilmatead, Don't be too quick to destroy Carthage - you might be happy there. In that old world, "join us or die" was the battle cry. And it seems to be yours as well. I am not too old to learn something new, so if there are any advantages to two panes I would like to know about them. What...
