Re: xplorer2 5.308 BETA

I won't worry then. The thing is, though, settings backups are manual. If I make a lot of changes, and forget to save , then install a Beta and something goes wonky, my changes are gone. But, that is mostly moot now, anyway, as I'm making extensive use of profiles, so if I lose a profile or 2, it's ...

Re: xplorer2 5.308 BETA

I install the beta in a different folder also. I have never had problems doing that. If you wanted to have separate settings for the beta and stable you could save settings to an ini file. I used to do that because I liked to keep x2 portable but Nikos said using an ini was slower than using the re...

Re: xplorer2 5.308 BETA

For me, it is if it introduces a new setting that the old version cannot make sense of and breaks it. A secondary reason is that I may inadvertently set something in the Betas that breaks the beta (and later the subsequent final release) without realizing it, and thus I need to spend time troublesho...

Re: xplorer2 5.308 BETA

That is what I was afraid of. I usually install the Betas in a new directory to run side by side with the latest stable.

Re: xplorer2 5.308 BETA

Just now seeing this. As I see a new option which is going to be disabled immediately after installing, I've got a curious question. Since I always have my ULT installed on my Windows box, and since I've more than once installed a Beta here and there along side my installed stable version, I'm curio...

Thanks for this - I had forgotten about this tool a long time ago already lol.

The GUI looks interesting.

Re: Windows 11 and Multimonitor Issue

what are these "profiles"? The monitors are always the same, no? What you call Layouts in Xplorer² I always revert to calling Profiles , as most software / programs use that term for similar functionality. I use the word so many times in my job and personal life with software support that...

Re: Windows 11 and Multimonitor Issue

I never could figure out why - and sometimes it did just work as expected. Of course, I'm also running Windows 11 Pro, and it does things weirdly to begin with. And nVidia drivers have had a hard time keeping up with my 4K monitors at times as well, and especially after I upgraded to a 3080 Ti GPU. ...

Re: Hurricane Ian

Lol. Here in Atlanta, it's not *too* bad - no ice storm like out west.

It's gonna be 26 tonight, but that is the coldest it gets for the next 10 days. So, basically about normal for this time of year here.

Re: who has lots of movies?

Yeah, noticed that when I made it down to the 'other apps' forums lol.

I'll play with it over the weekend. FWIW, I have a 1 TB NVMe SSD that is almost 90% full of (mostly) .FLAC and .MP3 (106 GB free / 931 GB total), and that should give a good basis for testing for music stuff.

Re: Windows 11 and Multimonitor Issue

Ahh, sorry, I assumed it was a personal device, not a managed device. Then, yes, you're stuck with doing it only for your own login - which is all that really matters, eh? FWIW - I fought with this for almost a year as I slowly transitioned from my pair of old 1080p monitors to having a triplet of 4...

Re: Hurricane Ian

That does suck. And we're going through more and more situations like this, seems every other year as a n average for the last 20 years. Polar vortex also doing some crazy things now, about to get yet another cold snap my way - the last one around Christmas brought 7 degree weather (aka -15 deg C fo...

Sweet! Thank you, Nikos! This will make fixing all those stupid music files I recovered from a partially formatted drive much, much simpler!
