it would seem that windows realize that the previously publicly shared folders are just subfolders of the C/D/E and doesn't deem necessary to list them separately i'll have to look into it BTW, if you login without admin rights you should be able to see the old shares and not the C$ etc, is that so?

i tried it on my XP and there were no problems, so the issue is fishy wrt the little experiment with the 2 files in the scrap frame, please drag-drop to a target that is going to generate the assertion error.
