Use a dedicated renaming application, like ReNamer.
Here's its user manual: http://www.den4b.com/wiki/ReNamer

There are others ... have a look a the Renaming files thread, under Especially Useful xplorer2 Topics

Hi rayt435 , Network slowness issues are a longstanding problem.  And nikos has spent a lot of time over the years trying to resolve them.  But his efforts are frustrated (as he is) by not having a (corporate-size) network to work with to find all the problems. Having seen how much he has tried, I m...

To expand the browsed folder by one level automatically, check the appropriate option using the Advanced Settings Editor.

Details and illustration given by Kilmatead in this post in another thread.

Methinks the difference between whether an imperfection in a tool is considered a small annoyance vs. an outright defect has a lot to do with how often one uses the tool.   For me, this issue is usually a small annoyance ... except when I have days when I do a lot of searches.  Then it really starts...

I don't know what's going on with nikos.  Although he is often dismissive, the response here is uncharacteristic of him.  More usually when the details are described, he politely says he will look into the situation (whether or not he actually does). Must be a bad day in Greece and/or with the baby,...

It's a start-up setting in your shortcut to x2. See: Help > Quick start guide > Command Line Settings where you can read By default xplorer² runs in a system resource-friendly single process mode, even when you launch separate instances. Using /P you force new instances to open as separate processes.

Long-standing bug.

I just pull down the pick list or type in my new expression. :-(
It not being a high priority for me, I have given up my expectation that it will be fixed any time soon.

My first reaction was "but that's not logical"; but it seems I missed the point while Kilmatead got it right away and explained how to do it in his first response, above. Set two rules (both with Boolean "OR" context):       > one to show all folders,       > another to show file...

Any folder that does not match the rule(s) will not be shown.
Only items matching the rule(s) will be shown.

It works as expected for me (on XP using x2 v2.1.0.1 ULT).
Folders matching the rule show (or not) depending on whether the aforementioned box is checked.

matelot,
The reason no folders show in your example is that the check box for Folders in the upper right of the dialog box is not checked.

@ censored -
I did, after getting complaints about its graphic nature.
In retrospect, the thread would be less of a non-sequitur had I not deleted the post and replaced the graphic with a note instead.  ... but the one-button "delete post" route was easier.
Call me lazy.

Congratulations for now (and condolences for later.)
Enjoy the occasional months of indescribable cuteness when they appear. With any luck, they will be more than just punctuation marks along the journey of raising her and, dare I predict, her siblings.
