Re: Files disappear after revert
Ah, an answer that only a mother could love. :D That I obviously do notice (and can measure) the difference, and that the results seem antithetical to your premise is only more sugar on my corn-flakes. Since I've been using this setting... well, forever... and my first foray into not using it result...

Re: Files disappear after revert
note that this makes all refreshes a bit slower I was curious about this, as I have had this option ticked for the last few years (I unapologetically always run as Admin), so it seemed reasonable to wonder what actual delays might be entailed. A quick, not especially "controlled" experime...

Re: Shrunken toolbar icons and text
...those settings were in Layout Settings and not Global tab on my version. Oops, sorry about that. (Corrected in original post.) What kind of multi-tab control opens by default to the second page? As usual, I just blame Nikos for all the woes in this life. :D To be honest, there is zero benefit to...

Re: how to subscribe to forums or topics
I'll try this for a while. It can be rather entertaining when a spam-bot gets in overnight and resurrects 10 old threads (thus sending you 10 useless emails), but the actual new posts themselves may have been deleted by morning (by an attentive moderator), so you end up with 10 emails linking to he...

Re: Shrunken toolbar icons and text
You may also use Tools -> Advanced Options -> Layout Settings (tab) -> Max Button Width and/or Toolbar Font Size Factor to Normal to adjust the allotted space and fonts to fit toolbar buttons. Also, just right-clicking on a toolbar and disabling the Small Icons checkbox (which defaults to on for som...

Re: how to subscribe to forums or topics
Works fine for me... the link for specific forum subscribing is just a checkbox at the very bottom of the initial page... http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h440/Kilmatead/x2Subs_2.png ...to subscribe to individual threads (in forums to which you have not generally subscribed), that is in the dropd...

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
...until the next time I reinstall Windows. Somewhat off-topic, but it's curious that MS is going out of its way to make that time-honoured task a more and more problematic thing to do by (literally) blocking updates for newer hardware. And, even more irrationally, actually blocking updates for Win...

Re: user command woes
Hmm... so it doesn't actually allow more UC's to be defined, merely more references to be created and muttered over as the user tries to juggle these and tie his shoelaces with a sprained wrist. Wouldn't it be more reasonable to just dynamically allocate space according to the nCustMenuIcons value? ...

Re: user command woes
if you prefer the mouse would you consider to add things in xplorer2 > ORGANIZE context menu? How does that allow him to define more than 99? That's just an extra place to store them. :? you gave me an idea to add a quicksearch box in user commands (organize) dialog I've been using a (very early/ou...

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
Well, he forgot to mention he's got 92 user-commands! (That said, I've only got around 70-ish UC's, but only put custom icons on the ones that actually live on toolbars.)

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
We'll also note that using the "explorer replacement" mode (for those that deign to), x2 is left running in the background just for such an eventuality (and, indeed, is added to the system start-up list [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\] with the '/Z' flag to mitigate it yet ...

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
I wonder if it is because I'm loading the language dll with resource tweaks. Nikos neglected to mention he's also using an SSD, which makes a universe of difference for programme launches (which one tends to take for granted after awhile). Every little bit contributes... loading the INI instead of ...

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
But if you want to stick to Windows Defender, you can add xplorer² to its exclusion list. Not for nothing, but adding x2 to the exclusion list of an AV "may" be interpreted as similar to UAC elevation - you are de facto adding everything subsequently launched via x2 to the exclusion list ...

Re: feedback required: scripting xplorer2
Dipping my toe into the same universe simulator as snakebyte 's (welcome back, lurker!), exposing more of x2's entrails was always a wish for me - as far as I know, your single concession to the outside world [UWM_GETDIRECTORY (WM_APP + 31)] is horribly unreliable considering the permissions ...

Re: Surface Book - high dpi = tiny icons
Unfortunately that wouldn't help him... while those icons may indeed be modified, their practical dimensions remain locked to your original resource bitmaps (larger ones would be clipped) - so this remains a DPI rendering problem between x2 and Windows - specifically, on that of the tablet form-fact...
