> menu item to launch a new instance instead?

that's coming (i think) in the next version, more or less the way explorer does it

> command line switch to launch the find tool?

how would that work then? (and why?)

i take it you mean filenames etc in the left/right panes come out wrong (?) i wouldn't know for sure but 2x uses whatever fonts your desktop (explorer) uses, so it shouldn't have problems. I have seen some program snapshots with eastern fonts, ...

syntax hilighting is a big beast to tackle, and would defeat the purpose of such a small notepad replacement.

executing externam commands (e.g. compilers, browsers etc) on the edited file on the other way is something i'll add at some point

more bookmarks are coming
in the meantime you can "cheat" by managing your own bookmarks as explained in FAQ # 20

4 windows is no problem, but how are you going to manage them? For example, if you want to synchronize the contents of two windows, how would you pick the two? How would you pick a target for "Copy To" commands? Too much complication there... You can have a second instance of 2xExplorer running if y...

That's a good one that i didn't know (BTW, the url has an extra '.' in the end) Unfortunately on my NT4 at least, it opens the contents of zips etc in what it is known as rooted namespace extension, which for you and me means that a new explorer window pops up with the zip contents. I have se...

no 2x's synchronization logic requires same named files. So either rename one of the two :) or use something external like winDiff if you go for plan B, keep in mind the nice tricks 2x's address bar will allow for compiling commands to execute, especially so the [Ctrl+Enter] shortcut t...

ok, let's clarify this I didn't mean to right click on the desktop icon itself. Create a shortcut to 2x on your desktop (or wherever you find convenient) and right click on that. From the context menu select Properties. Look for the shortcut tab and there you'll find a run</b...

no

at present the best it can do is dip into ZIP files, but you'll need winXP for that (or at least 2000 with zipfolders support). There are a couple of FAQs on this topic

sure thing just use the /S command line option to specify which registry key to use. So you can have /S:latex and /S:html (names don't matter) which will create two separate registry keys (Editor2latex & Editor2html respectively). Then you pretty much have 2 different programs, you can have totally ...

2x does that for you automatically. You don't have to do anything now, if you are trying to fix the location of the editor/viewer window to some specific spot, you're out of luck since 2x will always use the last coords (wherever you moved/sized the viewer last) if you need more control, use the ext...

typical for windows, isn't it? They make a good job, then they leave a couple of small details out (like the sort by extension you mention) which make the whole "product" unusable in the long term, since it ends up hurting your tits ;) it wouldn't be easy for me to repair this glitch --- i'd have to...
