How to clear history?
I'd like to clear folder history but not having any success. Is there an easy way to do that? As an example clicking on the down arrow to show folder history never gets cleaned up even though I thought I'd cleaned from registry and .ini files. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. xplorer2 Ultimate v...

Are Windows login passwords needed?
Looking for some expert thoughts. I know there are some here. I think. I'm debating whether there are any real benefits to having to log in with a password on to my Windows 10 desktop. So far I can't find why I want to bother unless someone can convince me otherwise. My computer is at home and I'm b...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean
Thanks Kilmatead for the information.
You've verified some of the more recent articles I've read. Besides, I doubt I'll have this drive when it reaches it's maximum life even with indexing enabled.

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean
As I understand it, Ulitmate heavily relies on Windows indexing to help in the fast searches. Is that correct? I have an SSD and some recommendations I've read say indexing should be turned off, which I've done. Do you agree with the recommendations? If so will the speed improvement be as great as s...

Re: it's no wonder MS is going down
Thanks for the suggestions and extra information but I wasn't successful. I do however now have some more information so that I can branch my search for a solution, although I doubt at this point I'll find anything. I think what I need is for one of the developers of the programs to tell me what the...

Re: it's no wonder MS is going down
Thanks. I already tried all that with no success. Yea, I'll probably have to live with it either until I install Windows 10 (maybe) or actually find what got messed up and can fix it. Although I'm not holding my breath for either. I even thought of doing a clean install from a restore partition but ...

Re: it's no wonder MS is going down
I wonder if your problem is along the same lines I've seen on my Windows 7 computer. Only mine is much worse. The sub-menu icons on some of my programs (not developed by me) are basically black until I hover my mouse over them and then they turn to whatever color they are supposed to be. Seems somet...

Re: Ribbon / user commands
I'm not a big ribbon fan (still old school I guess) and am very glad that Nikos kept the option to use "legacy" toolbars and didn't try to force them on us. Thank you, Nikos.

Re: deskrule .34 now with fast indexed search
As I read the documentation deskrule uses Windows index files. I've turned off indexing. How will that impact its use? I started turning off indexing a long time ago because of the performance hit on my less than stellar computers. Since I don't do a lot of searching I've never missed it. However, n...

Re: xplorer2 version 3 released
Upgrade registration went fine with lifetime registration. I have a question regarding the ribbon. I admit I haven't read everything, but I used to have my favorites on the toolbar so I could just single click to get to them but now have to click on Favorites and then the name, doubling my carbon fo...

Can't change where settings are saved
I'm using x2 Prof x64 and want to change the option from save settings to registry to ini file but that option is grayed out. I also have Ult x64 installed and was able to change that option to ini. I'd like to try out the new v3 but want to have settings saved as ini so it doesn't affect my other i...

Re: Unable to delete file
Well, I fixed it and thought I'd pass on what I did on the Windows 7 computer. First, I'm not totally sure why I had the problem deleting files. At first I thought it had to do with the Google Drive and OneDrive folders but I found that moving them to a regular folder allowed me to delete only 2 of ...

Thanks for that. I forgot about saving to an ini and will make the change.
