this topic has been discussed before (please use the search "button" to track the relevant posts)

basically zips in XP are folders that's why they are bunched with the rest of the folders

xplorer2 is the successor to 2xExplorer, under development
it's still early days to call it even beta, but there is a version available for downloading, see the main website:

you're right, something's fishy there
however, drag-drop works fine

PS. I've just tested xplorer2 and it works fine, even for paste

you must be using FAT32 partitions
NTFS-formatted partitions include time info for last accessed but not FAT32

the good thing about it is that multiple commands get sent to a single window rather than many you're right about ctrl+C, no way round this; other input is possible though at any rate you can turn it off setting binConsoleRedirection to 0 as explained in alpha.txt ; then you can have your favorite c...

2x doesn't remember filters very well
but it's a good idea to have [Ctrl+J] always available, setting the filter last used in a previous run

the same external editor used in F4 can be used as a viewer too, the shortcut is [Ctrl+F3]; this is explained in keyboard.txt

in xplorer2 the situation is simpler since you can assign separate external programs for view and edit (controlled via the registry for the moment)

this command is useful but isn't something that is frequently used. The risk is that 2x could end up huge with little commands like that what we had discussed in the past is to have a set of utility commands (separate small msdos programs) for special tasks and operations. A good touch command would...

i don't know much about these issues 2xExplorer is a multi-byte aware program, not unicode I remember one guy once told me that there are settings in XP that force locale settings for individual programs, but i can't remember how he did it (from control panel somewhere? ) xplorer2 already has a pure...

hiding extensions is a double-edged sword
it may be easier renaming when you don't want to change the extension (type) but it is a real problem if you want to change (say) a txt file to dat or whatever

BTW xplorer2 already has a type column

or it could move the 2x part after the folder name unfortunately you would still be left wanting for more space for the path, especially as taskbar buttons' population increases, making them smaller the only solution then would be to observe the tooltip that pops when you leave the mouse hanging ove...

you are not the only one
in fact it would seem that i am the only one who went for the "reasonable" grouping, like with like, folders with folders

in xplorer2 i'll add an option for this to keep everyone happy

BTW thanks for your support!
