Yes, the address bar breaks the cycle of TABS, but you can ESC out of the address bar back into the active pane.

I do think that returning focus to the pane when the filter results in naught entries is a little weird - that sort of forces an unnecessary double <Ctrl+J> - and what's really weird is that <Ctrl+J> does not work from within the filterbox itself (if the user changes his mind midway through typing)...
