[Ctrl+R] doesn't work in the tree (it does for the new xplorer2). Instead you must forcibly collapse and re-expand the tree branch you want refreshed -- or the whole tree if you collapse the root (desktop) node

as i mention in the website, xplorer2 is not a viable alternative to 2xExplorer yet. But it is under development, so watch this space, for column selection and beyond!

if you can't get it back via resizing (enlarging) the window, try the [Ctrl+E] shortcut from View menu. If that doesn't fix it (I can't see why not) then take a look at FAQ #11 which describes how to get rid of a similar problem

are you talking about the functionality where the tree is updated every time you change folders in the right pane? (Tools | Keep tree in sync command in 2x)

that's not implemented yet in x2, but it should be in for next week's release

i don't recommend replacing windows explorer. This goes for 98 and all the rest windows platforms

what you can do however is adding a new verb for folders and associate it with 2x as explained in FAQ #15
