i'm pretty sure this is just happening for the debug build. If you get the release version (link posted in this forum a long time ago), you won't have this behaviour

so it's mystery solved, innit?

could you do me a favor and try browsing the same folder with the new x2? what path is shown then? the real network or that local nethood thingy?

anyway you can only change the extension of link files with Ctrl+F2, but if you do you "destroy" the link

see NeverShowExt in the registry under HKCR\lnkfile

so you have these radlnk files too? are they real links then? Only then would you see the assertion

this is not a serious problem, only occurs in debug mode
however, do such links have a target?
you wouldn't be able to get to them with Ctrl+L

i wish there was an easy way to do that kind of thing too but the whole point with x2 is to supply its own view for the folder if some namespaces are so badly designed that they won't work unless their own view shows up, it breaks the idea! I could show these views but without any control over them ...

to any people that have this problem:
what's the path shown in the addressbar (or pane title) for such network folders that have problems with file transfers?

in the past when x2 tried to read these folders, it would get into an infinite loop & crash

so it isn't a "normal" extension, its view is responsible for its contents

being an old fashioned C++ type and caring 0% for .NET, I don't have any problem with that

that one is really odd, advertises itself as "nonenumerated" so x2 keeps out. What does it do?

i'm sure there's a perfect explanation, if we were to follow each step of the state-space map of VSS and bill gates' head :) but now i understand why the problem is caused in x2 when x2 compares folders, one of which is on NTFS and the other is e.g. a floppy, then it accepts differences up to 2 seco...

the problem is that on your desktop you've got one strange item that is a link whose extension is not 3 characters long (usual lnk or url. What is it? You can see that with 2x or plain explorer

folder settings are saved in desktop.ini since most virtual folders don't have a real folder behind them (e.g. control panel is shared with system32) you can't store options for them (although registry would be an option) so JRz is right coming to the "clear" problem, i can't reproduce it ...

well i only write full explanations every now and again so these bullets are ok as intermediate clues. People like you shouldn't have any problem getting the hang of it, surely! E.g. see Actions | Folder settings
