Answering myself: OK, I now see you are ADDING 101 to the first byte, then 102 to the next byte, etc.  For 16 bytes, the sum of those are 1736, or x000006C8h. Now I know how you get the answer, my question is WHY!? Is this some "best practices" algorithm for generating "checksum"...

I don't understand if the contents of a file is all x00h's, then how can the displayed checksum be other than 00000000? I created a simple file with 16 x00h's in it (I wish I knew how to upload a file or image <sigh>) and received the following checksum: Name Size Checksum zerotest.hex 16 B 000006C8...

I thought you did from the above posts and Fgagnon's results in April.  That all happened before I bought my Canon, so I wasn't testing the fixes then.  I'm only trying to read/copy the JPG's over. I'll use a CF to USB reader to get the RAW's or, apparently, use the Canon utility (fgagnon - thanks f...

Still Not Reading Canon in 1.7.1.4

I thought the Canon camera read problem was corrected, but I just upgraded and still my Canon EOS Rebel XTi reads as: ;;{E211B736-43FD-11D1-9EFB-0000F8757FCD}\..VID:{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}\0001: and no files displayed. Win Explorer reads the files... Xplorer2 - 1.7.1.4 unicode OS - XP...

Checksum Results Are Not As Expected

Nikos, Background: I have a group of files that I have carried over from several computers and hard drives.  I recently went to access one of the Excel files and received an "Invalid format" error.  When I accessed the file with Editor2, the file was all x00H's.  I discovered a group of my...

Have you tried using shift-F12 to modify attributes including modified and / or created dates?  Has a NOW button for each.

Although I voted (the exact item is inconsequential as the list didn't include my favorites), the really, really important features are: 1. Folder groups! Every day, in every way - they keep me organized, help locate project specific files, and quickly manage project files.  I manage multiple system...

Sticky Topics

Can a carefully selected subset of the more useful topics be made "sticky" to keep them at the top of the list?  I'd heartly recommend putting the MENUHACK forum near the top of the list. http://forum.zabkat.com/viewtopic.php?t=3702&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highligh...

XP SP3

Has anyone installed the SP3 upgrade to XP Home or Pro?  Looking for real-world results instead of professional reviewers. Alternatively, pointers to recommended reviews would be nice. I'm considering moving to Ubuntu Linux, but was also wondering if SP3 would help some problems I currently have (ma...

Re: VERY OT WARNING

...the important point is this: not knowing now is okay. This is an excellent statement, and one I wish more people would take to heart, whatever their beliefs.   the easy solution for "something out of nothing" is to throw away the big bang theory altogether There's a lot of scientists (...

VERY OT WARNING

John Dewey was a pretty good thinker. Your correct -- John was the signer of the Humanist Manifesto, not Melville.  My mistake.   I thought the new PC term was "brights" instead of "freethinkers".  Ahhh, can't keep up with the times anymore.   Although I'm always curious to know...

At least Brig didn't mention Charles Darwin, Melville Dewey and Madalyn Murray O'Hare.  That "trinity" of more commonly familiar names -- at least here in the States -- would have definately stirred the pot!

And a warm "He is risen indeed!" to everyone else!

Bablefish appears to be a little weak in the English -> Greek -> English department (with some humerous 360 translation results), and  Freetranslation doesn't handle Greek.  How does "hello" become "Geja'soy"? :? I'm going to honeymoon in Crete in October and I was hoping to get ...

That's a "feetur" I've noticed as well.  It can slow things down when the last selected item is a 40MB DWG file that Autocad takes about 5 minutes to load.

A fix or workaround would be very much appreciated! :D

Edit : >editor2_UC.exe This works I believe your "fix" will stop working once you execute any program from within XPLORER2 that will cause it to change the CWD somewhere else. To check, press F10 [enter] and see what the current path is when you first start up XPLORER2.  The CWD should be...
