@discgolfer The renaming tools discussion is a recurring one and almost everything has been said at some place, so this is just a repetition. There are so many utilities for renaming, most of them good, you can choose your pick. I'd recommend searching for some old discussions. My recommendation tho...

@ x2user - In practical terms a hardlink is a entry in the Master File Table (MFT) that points to where the data is stored, all files have at least one hardlink, a so called hardlink is just another entry in the MFT pointing at the same data. Do you know if the entry in the MFT can be read and used...

but you would have to type the folder name in HERE field, wouldn't you? I don't see much difference between this and creating the folder with F8 beforehand!? There's quite a difference. I think you underestimate the sum of repetitive tasks coming with big amounts of filehandling. I often use the he...

Hi RightPaddock, I'm using hardlinks extensively, too. And I don't have a solution for your specific problem. But do you know a little tool called dupemerge? http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/dupemerge/dupemerge.html It's a command line utility to detect identical files and hardlink them. It works great an...

If you're looking for reassigning (and not hiding), I recently have found another freeware gem (if you like to use the command line). It's a command line program called remount and you can very easily reassign and even swap drive letters. I prefer it over clicking through disk management etc. Try it...

I'm talking about the olive, military (and pukey) looking background colors as well behind the word xplorer² as behind the word home.

I have to agree with fgagnon. I'm stomach sick at the moment and those background colours are exactly the same as the stuff I leave in the sink right now. I really don't like it.

See page 60 in the PDF manual.  I think <CTRL-SHIFT>-UpArrow and <CTRL-SHIFT>-DownArrow are the keys you're looking for. I knew this, but it reminds me that I wanted to suggest (if possible), to enable moving not only single files but also selected groups of files. Also it would be nice if this man...

I'm certain at some time Nikos will also come up with some regular expression support. But since there are very good free solutions integrating with xplorer2 doing just what you want, it's no priority. Just search this forum for one of the many renaming topics and try out mrename or my favourite awx...

I'd like the robust copy/move not only to warn if a target path/folder doesn't exist but to offer to create the folder and complete the transfer action.

Actually I've been using Teracopy with X2 for some time now, since I'm not entirely happy with the performance of robustcopy and some minor things like its progress bar. I can confirm Teracopy works just fine with the 32-bit version. I've set it up like that the Windows copy/cut/paste works with Ctr...

I've been using Listary for over a year now and don't want to miss it.

But I've never encountered this conflict since if I want to use mass rename (indicating I've selected more than one file) I just hit F2 and it goes directly to the mass rename.

Really no alt-F-M necessary.
