With v3.4.0.3 I have the same problem that I and one other user reported after the updated to 3.4: xplorer2-based desktop shortcuts (i.e. a shortcut to C:\Temp) do not work after a reboot until I have run xplorer2 itself. Once I have run xplorer2 itself (started from the xplorer2 shortcut), then the other shortcuts work. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling 3.4.0.3, but that didn't help. This problem goes away if I revert to 3.3.0.2.

I can see the problem now. I will investigate and fix it. In the meantime you can either set xplorer2 to start automatically (put it in the startup folder), or you can remove xplorer2 from the STARTUP list in the task manager (it is one of the tabs there if you have windows 10)
