When using 2x I find myself often in the internal viewer. I was wondering how to save the state of this window, in particular the size of it. I found out the registry keys for it, but isn't there an easier way ?

2x does that for you automatically. You don't have to do anything
now, if you are trying to fix the location of the editor/viewer window to some specific spot, you're out of luck since 2x will always use the last coords (wherever you moved/sized the viewer last)
if you need more control, use the external Editor2 instead (via View | Options)
