windows steadystate

has anyone tried this steadystate thingy? Sounds daft to me but if you like it, especially that disk protection stuff, let me know if xplorer2 doesn't like it!

I haven't tried it yet - I want a separate sort of steady state (as in a full backup) before I do!

I doubt I'll get around to trying it anytime oon, at least until I get a virtual machine going....

I needed a "freezing" software for software testing.
I tested "SteadyState", along with "Deep Freeze" & "Shadow User".

SteadyState was VERY FRUSTRATING to use.
The configuration too complicated.
I felt too much of my systems resources were being devoted to its operation.
You really feel its presence when you're in one of its sessions.

Meanwhile, programs like "Deep Freeze" & "Shadow User" a DREAM.
They were simple to configure.
You don't notice any resource cost when using.

I settled on "Shadow User".
Because it allows for rebooting within a "frozen" session.
That's something "Deep Freeze" doesn't allow.
This is essential for testing software installations that require reboots.
