Sorting question
In explorer2 when sorted by name, files and folders are shown arranged alphabetically but intermixed. In 2xexplorer, the folders were always at the top. Is the sorting this way in explorer2 deliberate? Can I change it so that the folders are at the top as usual?
Thanks,
Tony

Which version of X2 are you using? I don't have problems with the sorting of folders (X2.46). They all appear alfabetically on top before all the files (detail view, sorted ascending on the name column).flightjock wrote:Can I change it so that the folders are at the top as usual?
You can tweak the registry to sort zipfolders as files or not (key: 'HKCU\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\xplorer2\bSortZipAsFiles'). When you set the value to 0, zipfolders are also put on top between the folders (alfabetically sorted of course)
Even a clean registry (remove the entire xplorer2 key when X2 is closed) gives me the same result. What are you doing different??

Do it better than M$ Explorer !!
I agree. That would be consistent with standard M$ Windows Explorer behaviour.nikos wrote:i have a planned registry tweak to put folders first at all times
But I think we shouldn't be trying to copy Explorer on this one. X2 should in my view put folders on top, even when sorting descending! This is what you have implemented for the sorting on the name column already Nikos. I like it.
Note that M$ Explorer doesn't!! When you reverse the sort order it puts folders last. This holds true for sorting on all columns in M$ Explorer. When you sort on date ascending, for instance, all folders are put on top, sorted on oldest to newest downwards. When you reverse the sort to descending, the folders are put at the bottom, sorted newest to oldest downwards!
I would be in favor of putting folders first whatever the sortorder. Of course they should obey the sort order among themselves (as M$ Explorer does)
Still puzzles me what flightjock is complaining about? Not using .46, perhaps? The sort by name should at least be putting the folders first as fgagnon confirmed.

It seems that I still have a problem. And it is a strange one too. When selecting a local drive (C, D) the folders are on top and stay on top independent of the A-Z or Z-A sorting.
However, when doing the same for our network drives (X, Y, Z), the folders and files are sorted alphabetically but intermixed. I don't understand why explorer2 would handle local and non-local drives differently.
Any suggestions?
P.S. I use the latest (october 12) version of explorer2.
