Hi,
I am using Win98 SE. I used to upzip file with password protected. Usually, I save the password into Clipboard then unzip the file one by one by pasting the password from Clipboard. And also, I used to drag the zip file with right click then I can unzip the file into another folder. It works until I use 2xExplorer.

I did some investigations and found out the followings.

I open the Clipboard viewer. Then copy the password into Clipboard. It shows my password. It is fine.
When I drag any file, the Clipboard shows the file name with full path and not my password anymore.
Then when I try to paste the password by CTRL-V, nothing happens.

What I need to do is copy the password back to Clipboard then I can paste it.

It won't happen in Windows Explorer. I think 2xExplorer should have its own reason to do that but if 2xExplorer can find another way to replace this action then it will be nice.

Thanks.

PS. When I resize both Clipboard Viewer window and 2xExplorer window and can be seen on my desktop, Drag and Drop function on 2xExplorer is gone.

i have discussed in previous posts on this forum this design fault in 2x where it uses up the clipboard for its own file management needs. Whenever you drag/copy/delete etc files in 2x, the clipboard contains these files. This has been fixed in xplorer²

In the meantime if you want to store text temporarily, what I do is open an instance of editor² (or notepad) and use it as a scratch pad for keeping text for a little while. You can keep more than one piece of text too.

To deal with losing vital bits of info from the Windows clipboard I now use a clipboard monitoring and storing program.  There are several freebies around.  The one that I happen to use is Yankee Clipper III at:

Another alternative to using Windows clipboard is Clip Trak, which can be downloaded from here: http://home.attbi.com/~mediaman/page03.htm
