Excuse me if someone asked this before but, Is explorer**2 going to have the capability to be translated. If so, you would at least have a Spanish version from yours truly.

yes, x2 is written in a translation friendly way, so there will be translations -- when it finishes!

I think x2 is close to be finished - wouldnt it be a good idea to give us "translators" (i am willing to do this for German) the (even preliminary) file with the base translation strings to have more time to translate?

I have not much free time and prefer doing this in small parts whenever it fits...

nowhere near!
Moreover I consider all existing user interface to be "works access only" and most of it will have to be rewritten -- all dialogs etc
so any translations at this point are a waste of effort
