Hi there I was wondering if there was a way and preferably a shortcut to open a folder in the opposite plane in xplorer2? I've had a look everywhere and can't find anything.

Just hold the {ALT} key and press enter (or double click).

Ah yes thanks. Perhaps you could also tell me does ctrl-O always expand the lefthand pane (or top) rather than the active one?

yes, it makes the left one active, regardless of prior state
