2x default application for folders & drives

Post by rbendett »

I have set up "verb" to open 2xexplorer from the context menu in explorer and shortcuts to folders which works fine, but from drives, cdrom, and compact flash reader I only get the desktop to open in pane. Is there a different setup for these items?

Why are you makeing this so complicated ? Just have a desktop icon for 2x,don't team it up with Windows Explorer. It's an improvement.

FAQ #15 has more on why this fails
it's only good for filesystem folders

I have shortcuts to my most used folders on my desktop and with 2xExplorer set as default it opens these folders in one pane with my bookmarks in the other ready for use. Thought I could also do this with cd-rom and compact flash reader. Not complicated at all.

I think we are on the wrong track.
1.What is "verb" ?
2.What is compact flash ?
2.a.What is pane ?
3.Why not just use 2x for everything ?
4.What exactly is harder than you think it should be ??

weird as it may sound, root folders like D:\ etc are not considered "filesystem". Adding a 2xOpen verb as recommended in FAQ 15 under Directory "file type" will not appear in the context menu of d:\ etc. Hey, I didn't design the system! :)

Lets stick to computer terms,by verb you mean a context addition, right ?
It was always obvious to me that the right click context menu
was "send to"meaning an exacuteable program,or open with eg"Wordpad"
Why in the world would you need this.Just d/clk the folder you want.
Maybe someday rbendett will drop by again.Nice chattin with you nikos.
