Feature Request: Line Numbers

Rather than just being able to goto line numbers, would it be possible to add the ability to view line numbers in a column along the left? i.e.

01 | This is line one...
02 |
03 |
...
10 | Line ten.
11 | Welcome to eleven!

Zero padding not necessary of course, as long as the line number column was the same width top to bottom (so it wouldn't make indented/formatted text look out of whack), and that the width of column was at least the width of the largest width number of course.

And just out of curiosity, any plans to allow actually hex editing rather than just the read-only hex view? Not that there aren't plenty of hex editors out there, but for small/simple edits to files, would be useful.

well there's the line/column indicator in the status bar
other additions like hex editing are unlikely, too heavy for ed2!
