Large file - high CPU, non-responsive

Post by Glenn1963 »

Using 2.9.0.3 Unicode x64.

If I load in a largish file, say 6mb, I get extremely high CPU usage and cannot do anything with Editor².  Eventually the CPU dies down, but as soon as I try to scroll the CPU jumps back up and I'm "locked" again.

The same file in Notepad, although slower loading, works fine afterward.

Any suggestions?

frankly, editor2 isn't meant to be used with such large files. It is using the same system control that wordpad uses, and you will find that  wordpad is equally bad with large files

Ok, thanks, I'll stick to reasonably sized files.

Just so you know though, on my system I can load a 43mb text file into Wordpad in about 2-3 seconds (14 for e2) and it doesn't become completely unresponsive, I can still work with it normally.  So there may be something else going on there.
