Mass Rename

Post by drac »

The problem with not using a feature very often is, when I need it, I do not know how to use it. I wanted to rename a bunch of files. I selected the Mass Rename feature and was immediately confused. The window did not look like the picture in the help file. I understand that the help is behind but the new field in the window (what to match) was greyed out and after trying various selections, I was unable to get it to allow entry to it. OK, not to worry, I thought. Maybe I don't need it. I looked at the token help and did not see any way to do the relatively easy rename. I wanted to delete the first three characters of each selected filename.

I wound up doing it manually, but I will be needing this feature again so I am wondering if X2 can do this. If not is there a good, free program that can?
