Perhaps you didn't fully understand the concept the last time you asked the same question? Indeed, it was even your own suggestion that he send out the notifications 2 months after final releases. Perhaps your complaint is really that it hasn't been a full two months yet?

Re: x² 2.4 "now available"
Could you please put the date it was released in the message so I don't try to upgrade to a version I upgraded to a month ago?

Re: x² 2.4 "now available"
If you upgrade via the Help -> Check for Updates menu entry (as the email suggests), it will automatically tell you whether the version you are currently using is the latest or not, and doesn't bother you with a download if it's already up to date.
Also, as an anthropological observation, it's actually more difficult for the human brain to compare complex date-differential information than it is to compare two simple version numbers (if using the manual-method instead of the "completely brainless" menu-entry approach ).

More nannying.
If Tuxman want a reminder after 2 months he's should put one into his calendar program when he gets the first one, or slap a post-it onto his SI wall calendar.
Or maybe there should an opt-out for reminder notices.
