Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st time
Hey Nikos,
In 3.x on 8.1 behavior of the keyboard focus indicator in panels have changed. Repro: start x2 (so it would not recall which folders you had visited); switch to List style; in the folder with sub-folders with keyboard open one of the sub-folders with Enter. Observe that there's no indication of focus on the first item, however, you can press Enter or Fx to perform operation on the item. In 2.x there was at least a focus rectangle around it (although, you couldn't perform any operations, unless you made it fully selected).
Without this focus indicator, it's very confusing what's going on and downright scary, because you can still do things to the first item.
Thanks.

on win7 at least the focus rectangle shows as usual. What happens if you press CTRL+DOWN to move the focus rectangle?
Re: Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st tim
It's 8.1 (and W10 preview) and 3.x only.
Ctrl-Down doesn't show anything.

Additional part of the repro: X2 should be started with mouse, do not touch keyboard until it is fully started. I think it might be a side effect of "hide focus rectangle unless keyboard is used" feature (whatever the name is), but I've not seen it messing up the focus rectangle like that on 2.x on same OSes.

Re: Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st tim
it could be that you are not using the keyboard at all... but certainly it isn't some change from xplorer2 itself
Re: Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st tim
Well, the problem is that if I opened x2 with the mouse and then started using the keyboard, 2.x would start showing the focus rect, whilst 3.x keeps not showing it.
I'll try to record a repro.

you can install the old version in parallel and check: www.zabkat.com/alldown.htm (v2.5 near the end)

OK, here's the video:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing
X2-Mouse.mp4:
1. Hands off keyboard
2. Launched X2 by mouse-clicking the icon in taskbar
3. You'll see the selection appearing on "random" files - I was doing Ctrl-Down a few times, then Up or Down to actually select the file
All in all - I expect the focus rect if not be visible from the get go, then at least show up once I start mucking around with keyboard.
X2-Keyboard.mp4:
1. Launch X2 with Win-1 (hey, you are on the FIRST spot on my taskbar!)
2. It works as expected

Same location, X2-OldVersionMouse.mp4 (v2.5):
1. Hands off keyboard
2. Launched X2 by mouse-clicking the icon in taskbar
3. It works as expected
BTW, there's a fun bug: I installed v2.5, uninstalled it, then ran v3.0 - it shows both Ribbon and Toolbar.

Re: Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st tim
try dumping the ribbong for the menu, and restart xplorer2. Does it work like the older version? It could be the ribbon does something internally that it thinks is best for its own benefit
usually you need to press ALT key to tell windows that you are a keyboard junkie

Re: Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st tim
Nope, disabling Ribbon doesn't change that. Pressing Alt after X2 was launched with mouse doesn't bring the focus rect back.

Re: Keyboard focus indication in the folder I opened 1st tim
But can we agree that the problem exists at least?
