Bookmark multiple tabs + lassoing multiple files
Is it possible to bookmark multiple tabs -- eg, 4 tabs ?
- presently xplorer2 only bookmarks MAXIMUM "dual" -- ie, 2 panels
- OR maybe I am missing something
Thank you

Thread got "off topic" (my fault) -- I know I should have started another thread
- I could not get "lassoing files" to work
- with help of FrizzleFry & Kilmatead ... lassoing was also resolved at my post

Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
you can use folder groups to "bookmark" several tabs in a pane... Customize/Folder Groups...

Thanks FrizzleFry
Easy when you know how
MenuBar > Customize > Folder Groups > Add Current
- saved my 4 tabs ...
Group Name can be edited
MenuBar > Customize > Folder Groups > Organize ... >
Organize (dialog)
- select the target group
Properties icon on the dialog

These group names may also be used on the command-line if you always want an x2 instance to open with particular tabsets in particular panes (instead of just single folders)bawldiggle wrote:Group Name can be edited...

Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
So what is difference between "Folder Groups" and "Custom Groups"
- what does one do ... the other does not ?

Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
Folder Groups are just sets of tabs. Custom Groups are an entirely different animal, relating to how objects are organised/displayed in the pane itself (View -> Arrange by -> Show in Groups/Custom Groups).
See page 71 of the PDF Manual for more information.

Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
Thanks FrizzleFry
After downloading I discovered the identical PDF file is already in the X2 folder
- now I have a spare
Also found what might be an error in "Mouse Related Terms > throw a lasso ... on page 23 of the PDF file
- it does not work in Xplorer2 ... but it does in Win-Explorer
Also an old MS trick on the Desktop

lasso works fine for me in both list and detail modes...
I think you have to disable some Vista effects to get lasso to work... it's in the x2SE (Tools/Advanced options) in the global tab...

I tried this ...FrizzleFry wrote:I think you have to disable some Vista effects to get lasso to work... it's in the x2SE (Tools/Advanced options) in the global tab...
MenuBar > Tools > Advanced Options >
Settings Editor (dlg)
General > Miscellaneous (panel)
[x] Disable some Vista effects, e.g. hilight of item under cursor
- was disabled by default
Rebooted PC
Lasso still does not work in Xplorer2
- it does in Windows Explorer
Maybe my Xplorer2 version is the problem v2.5.0.2 (7 March 2014)
ie, today last year
- am I entitled to an updated or am I one day too late ?
---------------
PC SPECS
Windows 7 32bit
Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
Disable Tools -> Options -> Window (tab) -> Full Row Selection and start dragging in any column other than Name.

Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
Nope ... that doesn't help either !
Nothing like the old fashioned hold down shift and drag to select adjoining files/folders
-or-
Ctrl+ Select to select non-adjoining files-folders

Re: Bookmark multiple tabs ?
Clicking the Middle-Mouse-Button will also select/de-select non-contiguous items (without needing <Ctrl>). I have no idea why drag-selection is not working for you - I can't seem to find any combination of settings which would actually block it.

I thought it might be full row selection but I have it enabled and lasso works fine for me.Kilmatead wrote:Disable Tools -> Options -> Window (tab) -> Full Row Selection and start dragging in any column other than Name.
You have click in empty space next to the first file/folder you want to lasso and then drag it to select files/folders.. you cannot select one file and then drag the selection to other files...
