And mine. Usually I use only one pane and one tab, and splatter X2 windows about as needed. The dual pane comes in handy when comparing or working on related things. This is Win 7 64-bit.

You may be referring to this thread - though being from 2013 a few offsite hosted screenshots are now missing, since some users are more OCD-tidy than others, but page 2 is still mostly populated.

While I am as conservative as the next guy, those two sentiments may not necessarily be as conducive to software development as you personally might prefer. Just sayin'. :D

as today I was in reminiscence mode, I was checking the changelog, what happened over the years. xplorer2 is the definition of sleeper, monster on the inside!

Ah yes, pride; everyone's favourite sin of indulgence. You're only as good as your last update.

Drive bars above each pane would be so user friendly and neat, *sigh*, alas the cows will wander forever.

That's the layout of the sort filter which the nice Irishman so kindly scripted for me, the script GUI has many sorting options, I like that one. perhaps this picture is more informative.

The nice Irishman likes to play with the iIndent member of the LVITEM/LVM_SETITEMW structure. He was surprised it worked on someone else's listview (since experiments with LVGROUP proved a bust), and found the effect befitting of a lunatic approach to regexp-sort. Nice Irishmen are easily amused by shiny things like that.

gee lad, so you actually change the filenames shown? let's hope your victims don't ever try to rename such a monster view or sparks will fly!

iIndent does not change the displayed filenames, the listview itself provides the pseudo-tab, it's not really there). Neither the sorting-order nor adjusting iIndent affects renaming in any way - everything is exactly where x2 thinks it is. To be fair, if you select the (disabled by default) option to "prefix matched text" to each entry then renaming could be interesting, but part of the prefix is the '/' character which flags an impossible filename error anyway, thus warning the user. But iIndent is harmless.

If you rename an iIndented filename you get the same effect that you yourself have been messing around with for the last week.

Besides, the sorting is ephemeral - it only lasts as long as you look at it (never let it be said that all those lectures on Existentialism were lost on me - Sartre be damned, Camus' La mort heureuse informs my every breath). :D
