When I add a comment to a folder, that folder is made 'read-only'. Is this expected behavior? Unfortunately, windows doesn't allow you to simply reset the read-only attribute through right-clicking the folder and modifying the folder properties.
Using xplorer2 ultimate 3.2.0.2 x64 on windows 7.

Re: Folder made read-only when comment field added
Yes, that's the expected behaviour, but "Read-Only" doesn't actually mean read-only when applied to folders, so you can just ignore it. The read-only attribute is also set if you want to assign custom-icons to the folder, or other sorts of actions (it essentially tells Windows to explicitly use the hidden desktop.ini file within that folder).
If you reverse the read-only attribute your comments (and icons, etc) will not be visible. You can set/unset this attribute in x2 by using the Actions -> Change Attributes command on selected objects if you wish, but it does not effect your ability to use the folder normally no matter how it's set.
