Selecting Multiple Files Behaves as CTRL-click

Selecting multiple files in x2 suddenly started behaving strangely:

Now when I select files in a directory with my mouse, instead of the normal behavior where
files are selected individual . ie:

- select a single file
- select a different file
- new file is selected, previous file is unselected

The selection process now acts like a CTRL-click where:

- select a single file
- select a different file
- now both files are selected
- etc

In other words x2 behaves as if I have my CTRL key always pressed while I'm
selecting files. The only way to deselect files is if I hold CTRL and click on the files I do
not want selected.

So far it is only happening in x2. This behavior is not happening in Win Explorer file lists. It is
not happening in my list of Chrome bookmarks. Nor is it happening in any other list of files
I can find on my system to test it on ... only x2.

I have not upgraded x2 in quite some time. I haven't changed anything of note on my system
that can account for this.

Is there a setting in the program that I might have accidentally activated with an inadvertent
key combo? I've been looking through the manual, but honestly there are so many selection
options that I can't find anything obvious. Thanks for any pointers ..
