How to search for file content

Post by fenpeppertree »

How can I search a folder or a folder and its sub-folders for content, like a single word that might be contained within a document?

browse the folder, press CTRL+F to start the search, and put your desired word to search in CONTAINING TEXT field
there are many demo videos that explain the search here: www.zabkat.com/tour3.htm

Sounds so simple, but not so. I have included a couple of images to show what happens when I search for a single word.
This word is even part of a file's name, and there is another file with the word within a simple one page document, not even one page really, but more one sentence (with very large font size); a kind of poster.

many things can go wrong here, e.g. what is in your NAMED field? (in your pic it looks there's some name you perhaps inadvertently added as a search parameter). Are these OneDrive files you are searching available offline? Try searching in a normal document folder. There are lots of other things that can go wrong, see here
