How to sort thumbnail pane by stock property like date taken

Can a pane of thumbnails be displayed in a sort order defined by a stock property such as Date Taken (for photos)? Is there any way to sort a pane of thumbnails in any way other than the standard menu entries Arrange By Name, Size, Date, Type that might be manipulated to simulate sorting by a stock property such as Date Taken? I've got version 4101 Pro installed, but will be happy to hear of a way to do this in Pro or in Ult.

(As far as I can see, the arrange-by-date uses the modified date, not the creation date, to do its sorting.)

to sort by any other non-standard column, all you need to do is add it in the folder view. Then you click on the column header

this works best in detailed view mode, but the column headers can also be visible in thumbnails if you tick the option "show column headers for all view styles" (see advanced property page in program options). This is handy for sorting
