website test

Post by nikos »

i'm trying out a "lightbox" for screenshots, you know that bit that shows pictures with arrow keys and you can go left/right to see all the pictures. Can you try it out in your browser?

https://www.zabkat.com/deskrule/index-test.htm

click on any of the thumbnails under the video and see if it works properly. Arrows should appear when you move the mouse near the right or left side of the image.

I tried on IE and EDGE and it seems to work fine, but I would like to hear about other browsers like FF and chrome
thanks!

I'm using Vivaldi, which is based off Chromium. It seems to work ok.

Just tried it in Chrome v71 and it's ok

Without JavaScript, clicking the images doesn't do anything. That makes no sense IMO.

Works good in Chrome for Android on a Samsung device, both in regular mode and as a desktop.

thanks guys!
as for javascript, nowadays nothing works without it. Is there a lightbox extension that works? I did this with 100 lines of CSS. I wouldn't want to add a few MB of extra stuff in the page for non-javascript people to see screenshots

ps since it's a slow day in the office, I made it work for no-javascript too, just don't ask me to make the youtube video work! ;)

It is your decision to not provide a fallback for those who prefer a relatively secure browser. :)

No, of course not. I rather thought that maybe, just maybe, the good old <a href="sshot.jpg"> would be an option ... looks like that's what you figured anyway:

Confirmed, thank you!

Hmm. Theoretically, the <VIDEO> tag would not require JS to work...

Neither the first link nor the one above ("slow day in office") do anything when I click. Firefox 63.0.3 Win 7 64-bit. Ublock Origin (turning this off on the website does not make a difference.) No idea whether java is running or not.

I've tried zabkat.com/deskrule directly as well, and also find no success. I tried Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as Firefox. In all cases, when I click on a pciture below the video the picture comes up but there are no left and right arrows, and if I then click anywhere outside the picture itself the window closes and I am back at the preceding page. Tried the direct zabkat link on another userid; same result.
