Trying to use/access cloud storage through xplorer² 4.2.0.1

Okay, in an attempt to be brutally honest about myself, I'm not yet all that common of an xplorer² user (even though I bought Ultimate). However, with the information I received today about the new 4.2.0.1 update, the talk about accessing/viewing files in the cloud (I use Dropbox), has piqued my interest.

The problem I'm having (and why I've posted this) is because of the following difficulty:

Although I can find a number of web pages here on the site (and elsewhere) that describe that you CAN use xplorer² with Dropbox, OneDrive, Google, Box, etc, none of the pages describe HOW to do it. I scanned through every menu in xplorer² and nothing really talks about Cloud (or Dropbox, for that matter) in the menu. Dumb as it might be, I've even tried putting in the web address I use to access Dropbox through a web browser, into xplorer², but no go.

Yes, I did check out the ADVANCED OPTIONS / GLOBAL / MORE OPTIONS in order to check-mark the box for Allow downloading on-demand cloud files for preview etc, but aside from that, I'm stumped. I even reviewed the entire HKCU registry entry for xplorer². Nothing about cloud or Dropbox.

I'm quite willing to believe that I'm probably just a dumb idiot that can't read anything. I am therefore hoping that some kind soul will explain what was (I'm sure) probably staring me right in the face, and how I enable/use cloud support (specifically for Dropbox).

Thanks to any of you for reading this far.

P.S. If it matters, when I press 'F1" while I'm in xplorer², there is no text or images about cloud storage.

P.P.S. Sorry for being verbose, but I wanted to make sure I didn't leave any places I could have looked out. But, of course, I probably did.

you access dropbox and other cloud drives through a top level folder. Usually this is under DESKTOP or THISPC folder. Just look for this folder on your system. How do you access dropbox with windows explorer? It is the same thing with xplorer2

you don't use an internet URL, cloud access is like any normal folder you have on your system. The cloud driver behind the scenes does all the special work required

So, you need to have the respective app to synchronize the cloud(s) to your machine first, and then access each of the respective folderS?

all cloud services install an "app" or a windows service of some sort that does the magic of showing remote resources appear like local files

*can* install - I usually bypass their methods and use my own methods.

I was just clarifying that for users like me who don't need another (semi-useless) app cluttering up the RAM by always running in the bg....
