Release 4.4.0.1: Old version on free-downloads.net
Downloading from that site today gave me 4.0.0.1 from 2018. Had to download from zabkat to get the current version.

you make it sound like you had to make your hands dirty!?
free-downloads is no longer a supported mirror, in fact there are no mirrors, only zabkat.com

Okay well, I followed the links at https://www.zabkat.com/alldown.htm labeled "MAIN download server" and that's how I ended up at that unsupported mirror. Also the buttons at https://www.zabkat.com/x2-64bit.htm lead over there too. In my confusion I installed the wrong version for my license. However "Check for Updates" sees no problem. Could you please post a link for downloading the current Ult 64-bit? All the links I find go to that blasted other place.
Re: Release 4.4.0.1: Old version on free-downloads.net
when I try it, all the downloads are coming from zabkat.com as expected!?
Re: Release 4.4.0.1: Old version on free-downloads.net
Are you seeing the same target URLs as below when you right-click/hover on a source link? I would examine your php script. Two browsers both take me to the bad place.

Re: Release 4.4.0.1: Old version on free-downloads.net
do you perhaps strip the referrer information in your browser? That could be the explanation
Re: Release 4.4.0.1: Old version on free-downloads.net
"referrer information" Assuming this comes into play only when one website sends traffic to another, I don't understand how it would be relevant.
"strip the referrer information in your browser" Not sure what this means really, but testing shows the main browser *is* doing something unusual, because two other browsers do proceed with a download as expected, instead of diverting to the other site. Thank you
Nuts - I was sure I had already tested with a second browser and duplicated the wrong behavior.
Next step: install the new download and confirm it is the current version.

Re: Release 4.4.0.1: Old version on free-downloads.net
And no direct downloads anymore, correct?
I had a convenient little batch where I downloaded the current executables with wget when a new version was announced.
When I ran it for 4.4.0.1. I got 2-byte-sized files with, well, 2-lettered content.
Was there a misuse? No harm done and of course I can go through the browser but I was wondering about the harsh comment.
[P.S. Just read https://www.zabkat.com/blog/ddos-zabkat.htm after posting and assume that was the reason]

yes, blame it on stoopid hackers.
