I have "Show total folder size" checked off in options, but it isn't working. I also have "Calculate subfolder size automatically" checked off. Have unchecked "Report all file sizes in bytes".

you mean you have the option ticked? It should work but keep in mind it won't work for root folders like C:\ or for network folders, if you have the "fast network" option enabled
