the windows shell has a system in place for viewers, just associate your favorite program to your document type and you are sorted. Use "open with" from the context menu and tick "always use this program to open XXX files"

Do you mean that Windows can only one the same type of file with a single program (what I think you're saying), or that you can only open any one file in one app only?

Because I just right clicked on a PDF and I have options to open in in every browser I Have installed
  • Firefox
  • Firefox Nightly
  • Chrome
  • Edge
  • Edge ßeta
  • Edge Dev
  • Edge Canary
As well as the 2 PDF handlers I have installed
  • Okular
  • PDF Viewer plus
I can see this at any time by simply right clicking any PDF and go to open with from regular Windows Explorer (although the same exact thing shows from the context menu in Xplorer² as well.
