On Windows 10, In can set a color tag to a file or a folder in the Drobox folder. But when the computer restart, the color tags have disappear. It is OK on some other places on the hard drive.

are you talking about the colors that paint AROUND the filename? These rely on file paths. If the path changes, then the color will be lost

what if you go out of the dropbox folder (while xplorer2 is running) then go back in again, will the color tag show?

Yes (?), I'm talking about: right clic on a file / color tag

I did'nt change the path, but I wonder if the rules are the same in a Dropbox folder

Yes, the color tag shows.
If I close xPlorer², it's OK, too.
If I close the computer, the color tag don't shows

before you close the computer, make sure xplorer2 is fully closed with ALT+X, then it should work

Tested this here (Win10 with current x2 build) and cannot confirm. Color tags in Dropbox are retained after reboot/restart.

I never close xplorer² when I close the computer. Should I? Why ?
When I close with the cross on top right, is it "close" or "exit"?

X button does close, which is what you need most of the time, but that doesn't save all settings
when you shut down, sometimes windows doesn't wait for programs to save settings, with the bad results you've noticed

Which of the following close methods are assured to save all settings:
- Click the "X" on right end of title bar?
- Press ALT-F-X?
- Click FILE, click EXIT?
- Press ALT-F4?
- Rt-Click X2 icon on taskbar, click Close Window?
- Other?

Which are assured to NOT save all settings?

when you close the window with X, xplorer2 is still running, that's why it doesn't save the settings
only when you fully quit x2 will it save everything for next time
FILE > EXIT (or ALT_X) is the only way out

In fact, for all my life I have thought that the correct way to close any Windows program (Word, Excel, Acrobat Reader, xplorer2, etc. etc.) was to click the X at the upper right end of any title bar.
On the other hand I have always wondered why the developers lost their time to put that item (File --> Close) in any dropdown menu
Now I understand that it wasn't so useless

I have learned a new thing

with ALT+X, it seems to work :)

but Color Tag is not showing in the tree when the tree is not active. For all folders, not just dropbox

this is by design to minimize eye strain :)
there is an advanced option "filename color coding applied even on inactive views", not sure if it will work for the tree?
