Searching for exact duplicates is now complete, including searching by file content.
Then MARK DUPLICATES helps you select which files to keep (originals) and which to mark for deletion
Using checkboxes makes sure you can filter and apply different criteria without harming the duplicates already ticked
for more details see the README file in the download
Only had a quick check, checking contents of 107191 files in 54 directories.
Discovering duplicates - progress bar misleading. Reaches maximum, then starts again & again! TC displays "Comparison: XX%". Better indication as to whether I make a coffee or lunch!
TC was faster, but then I ran declone first, so files would have been cached.
They both found the same number of duplicates, which is a good start!!
I like the interface. "User friendly", I think is the in phrase.
i see you are on the fence about declone... I bet you're going to love it in the end
don't concentrate on speed yet. This version is what I call alpha/debug so it does tons of self checks that slow it down.
about the progressbar issue: which search phase did you notice it on? Phase 1 (scanning for files) shows a generic busy progress. Phase 3, when it actually compares duplicates, is the one that you can rely on. That shouldn't reset itself!?
Repeated with the same data as before, 107191 files in 54 directories. 1112 matching items in 539 groups. Most groups are 2 files, a few are 3 or 4.
Phase 1 cycles at least 3 times, I stopped counting after that!
Phase 2 was almost instantaneous.
Phase 3 repeats at approximately 353 and 720 items.
Also, a little annoying, I can't Alt+Tab to DeClone when it's scanning. I have to select it from the taskbar.
Speed is not a great issue for me, but I do like to have some idea of how far the scan has progressed. I don't like "watching paint dry" so will be doing something else while it's scanning. If I glance at the screen and see the progress bar is near the end then I assume the scan is nearly finished. Yes, I know to assume makes an Ass out of U and Me.
I'm a great believer in "Jack of all trades, master of none" so will avoid something that claims to do everything. Hence, I prefer a dedicated duplicate file finder rather than it being part of a file manager.
as i said phase 1 doesn't know when it's going to end so it just goes left/right; no estimate is possible
however I don't understand how phase 3 resets itself!? I never saw it do that even when I search my entire computer.
so what happens for you? Does it go all the way to the left and starts over?
ps. beta testers get a free license eventually
I hope this will motivate more people to chip in their feedback!

Bribery will get you everywhere!!
You should know from my testing of x² that I find things that you haven't seen.
O.S. is Windows 8.1
DeClone Settings:
Size
Check file contents: True
When it gets to the right, it jumps back to the left and starts again.
I did screen shots but it appears that I can only insert images from a url and not from a disk file.
So it's number of files and not sub-directories, as I thought it might be.
I copied the directories and files to another directory. 29 directories, 58145 files was O.K. but 39 directories, 79568 files was not. The progress bar restarted at 40, 120, 254, 344, 428, 528, 646 & 850 items! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The log files are also vastly different sizes.
Now all you have to do is fix it - that's the easy bit!
Status bar displays "Searching in..." during phase 1. The message remains in phase 3, I assume on the last directory searched. It is different every time I do the same search. Just a little confusing, I was expecting it to either disappear during phase 3 (preferable) or display the directory being searched.
