right click in "Details" pane style

Post by MamiyaOtaru »

big dislike: In xplorer² 0.0.0.52, when using the 'details' pane style, it is impossible to right click anywhere to paste (or create new file, or change the pane style, or anything else in the standard context menu).

In other words, no matter where you right click, you get the context menu for the file whose row you clicked on. This is different from how Explorer and 2xexplorer (and konqueror) handle it. In those, as you are most likely aware, you have to right click on the filename (or anywhere in the filename column in Konqueror) to get the file's context menu.

The practical upshot is that you cannot right click/copy, then right click/paste to paste a file in xplorer² (unless the directory has few files, then you can right click below them)

Yes, keyboard shortcuts work. Yes there are menu entries for everything on the standard context menu. I'm betting this is a feature not a bug, but please rethink it. Different is not always good. Why force people to undo years of habit so you can do something different from the other file browsers? If you don't want to force people to right-click on the filename, consider letting them click anywhere in the filename column, as in Konquerer. This would at least let the users right-click any other column to be able to paste file, or change pane style etc.

Thanks as always for the great prog

You can still have 2x's behaviors in x2 (obviously you've disabled full row select in 2x). Follow this advice from nikos as written in alpha.txt:
lvsExtendedStyle LVS_EX_xxx flags for tooltips etc [* 17441]
The easiest way to find the correct value for this is to run 2xExplorer, select the view style you want from View | Options | Usability (gridlines, single click activation etc), quit 2x and read the number from 2xExplorer's registry settings (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\2xExplorer\General Settings\lvsExtendedStyle). Bad-ass programmers can set their preferred extended list view styles from the SDK headers :)

disabling the full row selection is one approach
another is to leave some slack past the last column (resize columns or/and windows as necessary) and right click there
