pathname bar over pane - suggestion (x2 52)

Post by jimspoon »

In the bar over the pane where the path name appears, e.g.

c:\first\second\third\fourth\fifth

It would be nice if double clicking on the word "third" took me to:

c:\first\second\third

And double-clicking on the word "first" took me to:

c:\first

And so on.

That's a good one! Nikos, have you got this one on your shopping list???

You probably have the 'third' , 'first', and so on already in the shortlist. Use right click on the same bar to get to frequently visited places fast!! This could help you for the time being. Maybe Nikos can implement your suggestion. I like the idea

This one is definitely not there in the wishlist. But from similar experience in webpages, I also like the idea.

(Many webpages display a complete "You are here" path, which is essentially a chain containing all parents, up to the root directory. Wer can go to any parent by clicking that huperlink.)

Don't think of this as a bad thing, but explorer.exe in longhorn does this too. It's really quite handy :)

EDIT: It would probably be a good idea to seperate the words a bit though...

Aren't the words separated enough by the backslashes?

Yes, I think the separator "\" is OK.

Probably some hyperlinks will be lost in the path when the address is too long (the address bar would contain "..." in place of some links). But that's not a big issue.
