Before I say anything else, let me mention that, Nikos, you are a star!
The individual folder customisation is one of the main features that I have been waiting for with x2... and now it's there... woot!
Anyway, there seems to be a couple of little issues with the way it works currently:
Firstly, it doesn't seem to work for 'special' folders, ie. the Control Panel, which is unfortunately one of the folders most in need of customisation...
Secondly, I assume the 'clear' function is supposed to remove any folder specific settings and restore that folder to the default view, yes? Unfortunately, while it correctly saves changes in the columns in details-view, the 'clear' function does not seem to restore the columns to the default settings.
(It will correctly restore the default columns if you change columns, 'save', then change to, say, thumbnails, 'save' again, then 'clear'.)

Individual folder settings
It is my job to comfort the disturbed,
and to disturb the comfortable.
and to disturb the comfortable.
Well, I think this will never work, because the special folders are not customizable at all. You can change the appearance, but the changes will never be saved (they have their own layout and this gets restored each time you visit a special folder)Morning Star wrote:Firstly, it doesn't seem to work for 'special' folders, ie. the Control Panel, which is unfortunately one of the folders most in need of customisation...
Nikos mentioned this in another thread I believe...
So, customization of special folders is not possible, alas
Dumb questions are the ones that are never asked
folder settings are saved in desktop.ini
since most virtual folders don't have a real folder behind them
(e.g. control panel is shared with system32)
you can't store options for them
(although registry would be an option)
so JRz is right
coming to the "clear" problem, i can't reproduce it
mind, when you clear old settings, the changes won't be seen immediately
but if you get out and back in again, you'll see them
