that's why FAQ#15 recommends you don't make 2x the default app for all folders. There's no solution i am aware of for this problem

It IS posible!

Don't worry I made my choice and I'm happy with it. I prefer trying to work around it than loading the control panel in explorer. And hey! if i ware afraid of buggy software that crashes i wouldn't be using Windows anyway!

Now i did find a work around, i just have to make this shortcut in the desktop like this:

"c:\apps\x2\xplorer2.exe" ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\::{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

it opens the control panel in my system (YMMV)

and

"c:\apps\x2\xplorer2.exe"
::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

opens My PC (YMMV2!!)

Thankyou very much nikos!

EDIT:

Now the only thing i miss are x2 behavior in open/save dialogs! Well you can't have everything!

::{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D} goes to My Network Places. Btw, x2 can get to these places just fine w/n itself and the CLSID is displayed on the address bar.

Not on Win98

Post by Requiem »

I know x2 can do it within itself, i just wanted to do it from scripts and from the desktop.

::{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D} does really took me to My Network places, weird! I was sure it was system dependent... well that means more portability!

The CLSID trick doesn't seem to work on Win98SE, what about 2k? can anyone confirm? I'm about to upgrade/replace the os...

2K is fine with ::{clsid}, anything older than that though... kaput!
