Is it possible to sort on two keys?

Post by weigheyeman »

Hi,
I would like to be able to sort by file ext and then by date so that after the sort each set of file extensions is sorted by date.
Is it possible?
Apologies if this has been asked before. I have searched on "sort keys" and found nothing relevant.
Regards,

Current behaviour is to do secondary sort by name (for items with equal primary sort key rank)

(& I do not recall this having been asked before, except I have had it on my list to ask sometime.)

I would like to suggest that by doing away with the current secondary sort (if that's possible), it would permit one to effectivley achieve n-ary sorts: Simply sort the lists multiple times in reverse order of sort significance.
This works if the re-ordering routine does not jumble equal-rank items on each pass.
