Find as you type

Post by wasker »

Say, I want to get quickly into My Pictures folder. I open My Documents and start typing M, y, [SPACE]... And guess what happens when I press [SPACE]?..  8)

Any workaround?
I'm using Xplorer2 - the only file manager that does not suck. Actually, it rocks!

none that I know of :(   . . .  except  . . .   wait for nikos to patch his keyboard input subroutine(s) such that [space] will not be interpreted as an end-of-sequence indicator.

Sh*t happens!

Pardon my French. Selection is being toggled when you press [SPACE] key, while I expect the space to be counted as a part of file name.

Ha! Just checked -- Explorer handles this situation as expected.

ah, yes the spacebar has been appropriated for 'toggle selection' (how could I forget?)
But that just makes it trickier to 'fix', needing to prohibit 'toggle-select' interpretation if the spacebar press is just a few millisec after other typing keystroke(s).  I would think it could be on the same pause detector/timer that keeps keystrokes 'together' as a single query.

Instead of typing [space], you can use [shift+space].  You have to remember to do it, but it does work without having to wait for a new version of xplorer².
