File | Browse Flat

I can [shift-enter] but do not have a File| Browse Flat menu option. Quick Start and Documentation both refer to it. Where has it gone?

Oh, yes. I wonder why I did that. All fixed now. Maybe a future release of the manual could list menu items, hidden when selecting plain menus, in the appendix.

the manual is phat enough as it is!
another giveaway of "plain" menu mode is that you don't get accelerator keys listed next to menu commands

A usability suggestion to help those who prefer simple menus would be to add a "more" indicator at the bottom of the dropdown menu, which can be clicked to show the full menu list.

this is a nice feature that sadly m$ kept for themselves and can't be added to other programs like x2 unless by a process of complete wheel reinvention ...

Excuse me as I am not coming from a programmer's frame of mind :)

I would thought this possible and think it's as simple as:

You click the more...' option on the list
The list gets redisplayed with the omitted commands

Would it not be as simple as this thinking?

the good thing with the office type "more..." menu is that it learns which commands you use more and hides all the others. All i could offer as you describe is some list fixed by me and that's not what users would expect or want!

I wasn't thinking of the office-type more; rather I had in mind a show all button named more (inplying the full menu).  Perhaps not very 'cool'; but definitely functional.

...Or, provide a Program Option to let the user select which menu options to show in the plain menus. Rest will be hidden.

This will allow the users to select their own palette (or "toolbox", if you will).
